Values and how they help make business decisions

The company that introduced me to leadership development was Milgard Windows.  During my time there the company’s philosophy was very simple:

  1. The individual must be respected.

  2. The customer must be given the best possible service.

  3. Excellence and superior performance must be pursued.

Milgard created a formal leadership development program called Milgard University.  As I would take classes and meet excellent instructors/speakers like Patrick Lencioni I really started to “buy in” to the principles I was being taught and try to apply them to my job.  As I make business decisions I do think about these 3 goals and try to make the decisions based on this framework.  It is simple, but not easy.
